Understanding the WordPress Dashboard

  1. Log into the site as described in Topic 1.
  2. Upon login, you’ll see the WordPress dashboard, with a left-hand menu and a main content area.
  3. Explore key menu items:
    • Posts: Manage articles (students can view their drafts; admins can approve posts).
    • Media: Upload and manage images.
    • Users: Admins can add or edit user accounts.
    • Appearance: Admins can update themes.
    • Plugins: Admins can manage plugins like Elementor or weDocs.
  4. Click the “Screen Options” tab at the top to customize which dashboard widgets are visible.
  5. Use the “Help” tab for contextual WordPress guidance.
  6. For Elementor users, click “Elementor” in the left menu to edit pages or templates.
  7. To return to the site’s front end, click the site name at the top-left corner.
